A TV programme coming up that may be of interest:

Sunday night (17th August), BBC2 at 21.00:  James May explores the weird world of the microcar (their words, not mine!)

I've set my hard disk DVR to record the entire series.

One thing I have noticed the programme has missed out from their first "cars for the people" episode was the Hindustan Ambassador.

Well, I'm afraid I found it rather disappointing with too much time devoted to vehicles that aren't microcars at all, plus firing shots at a 2CV and Renault 4, what was that supposed to prove? Unfortunately it had more than a hint of 'Top Gear' about it, you kind of expect that from Messrs Clarkson and Hammond, but not really James May. But, like some of the cars featured, I guess it was meant to appeal to the masses.

The first episode was pretty good. In episode two May seems to have lost his way. Lots of minor errors and inconsistancies, dissing almost everything and what was the hell was the whole 2CV/4L shooting about?

The Mehari was the military version of the 2CV and was used by the Gendarmerie and the French Foreign Legion amongst others. That in turn was replaced by the Ami based Teilhol Tangara (built for Citroen by Mr Teilhol) which was very much like a Fox in concept and appearance.

I hope he picks it up in episode three.

I hoped for big things from this episode but was sadly very disappointed. Yet another top gear style programme slating reliants, shame on you James May, if you have nothing nice to say about them then dont feature them!

MMM! ~ The series had a whiff of being produced by Jeremy Clarkson's production company and James May appeared to be a 'passenger' hence all the Top Gear style stunts and commentary...
